Day 1
(70 min)

Algis set the context by comparing the crickets to the sensor probes and interface box that the students had previously used in class, and to the electricity unit they had just completed.

Michael introduced the crickets by passing out a set-up with alligator leads and a motor. The students were encouraged to
try completing a circuit with the leads and experimenting with a variety of materials.

A display was added to the crickets for the students to interpret the code, then we projected the Logo Blocks program that the crickets were running.

Finally, each student pair was given a laptop and asked to alter the existing program, or start a new one from scratch.
