Ohm's Law and using a voltmeter

Answer these in your lab books.
Take notes on how to use the voltmeter.

1) Choose 3 different resistors and calculate their resistances. Measure the resistance. Is the resistance within the tolerance that is specified?

2) Read the voltage of 2 batteries in series. Is it what you expect?

3) Read the voltage of an outlet. THE ONLY DANGEROUS PART OF THIS WOULD BE IF YOU HAD IT SET TO CURRENT. CHECK IF YOU ARE NOT SURE!

4) Set up 3 resistors in series. A) Calculate the theoretical resistance. B)Measure the actual resistance. C) Calculate the theoretical current (based on actual voltage and theoretical resistance.) d) Measure the actual current. E) Calculate the % error.

5) Set up 3 resistors in parallel.

a. Calculate the individual currents across the battery.

b. Calculate the total current.

c. Measure the total current.

d. Calculate the theoretical total resistance based on the current and actual voltage.

e. Measure the actual total resistance.

f. Calculate the % error.
